Copyright even works on the Internet and protects all types of content: texts, images, photos, designs and graphics.

We use and post information on the Internet every day and rarely think that there are legal rules for using the information we receive online.

Task
Invite your child to determine in which situations copyright is violated and in which it is not:
1
You wrote an essay, inserted a photo from the Internet and did not sign the source (copyright has been violated)
2
You published a video on your social network and saw it in a group in your city (copyright has been violated)
3

4
The photo that you posted on your page on a social network was liked and forwarded to each other by different people (copyright has not been violated)
5
You decided to publish the work of a local artist in your scientific article, and the author in correspondence allowed you to do this (copyright has not been violated)

You came up with an interesting idea for a project and told your classmate about it, and later he used this idea in his project (copyright has not been violated)

Сonsumer’s rights

Watch a video about “Consumer’s Rights” with your child.

Today we often buy goods online. We cannot always be sure that the product will be delivered on time, and that its appearance and quality will correspond to the description posted on the seller’s website. What can we do to protect our rights as an online buyer?

Task
Read the text to your child and ask him to guess which words should be in place of the highlighted words.

The buyer of the online store can refuse the transaction and demand the money back at any time before receiving the goods and within 7 days after. If you do not specify the return procedure on the website, the period increases to three months. The seller is obliged to return the money received from the buyer within 10 days from the date of presentation of the claim. If the store, after drawing up a return certificate, does not return the money within 10 days or verbally refuses to do so, you need to file a complaint addressed to the seller. In some cases, purchases purchased from an online store cannot be returned. It is not possible to return an item, provided it is not defective, if it is made to order. For example, a jacket is tailored to the client’s measurements. But, if an item made to order has defects, or the contractor violated the terms of its delivery subject to advance payment for the purchase, then the client has the right to refuse it.

Discuss with your child the answers to the following questions:
Is it possible to return an item when purchasing a product in an online store?
What should you do if the seller refuses to return your money for the product, although by law you have the right to do so?

Digital etiquette

Watch a video about “Digital Etiquette” with your child.

Digital etiquette — rules of online communication.

We all correspond on the Internet, but we rarely think about the rules of communication. How should you behave in correspondence with your interlocutor? The same principles of politeness apply online as they do in real life, but there are a few special guidelines.

A few rules of digital etiquette:
Greet the other person at the beginning of the conversation
Contact strangers formally
Ask the person for permission before posting a photo or any personal information that concerns them
Respect other people's time. If you have a question, try to figure it out yourself. If it doesn't work, ask for help
If you need to send a message at a later time, you can use the “delayed message” function
One thought - one message. Writing short messages may be easier, but from the recipient’s perspective it looks like this: the phone vibrates endlessly, but in reality it turns out to be one simple question
Give your interlocutor at least a day to respond
When communicating via video, check your microphone and camera in advance, join the call from a quiet place, and try to turn on your camera if possible if you are participating in a discussion
Don't record voice messages to strangers
Task
Encourage your child to think about other tips they can give when communicating online.
Solidify knowledge
Discuss with your child the answers to the following questions:
Why is digital etiquette important?
Is it possible to send voice messages to a stranger?
What is the best way to contact strangers?
